The standard, dentist-approved way to whiten teeth, involves using custom-molded trays with much lower, controlled concentrations of carbamide peroxide
Tooth gems are small, decorative jewels or metals bonded to the surface of a tooth using dental adhesive. Typically lasting anywhere from six months to three years, they serve as a popular, temporary form of self-expression that doesn't involve drilling into the tooth enamel
Both 33% and 44% teeth whitening gels (typically Carbamide Peroxide) are ultra-potent. The 44% gel offers the fastest possible results and acts quickly to tackle deep stains, while 33% provides a slight reduction in gum irritation while still delivering dramatic whitening
33% Carbamide Peroxide: A slightly more balanced alternative for experienced whiteners. It achieves dramatic whitening (up to 6–8 shades) but minimizes some of the intense zaps and sensitivity associated with the maximum-strength 44% options
44% Carbamide Peroxide: This is one of the strongest formulas available, usually reserved for short treatment sessions (15 to 30 minutes). It is highly effective for heavy, deeply embedded stains, but carries a much higher risk of tooth sensitivity and gum irritation if the gel touches your gums
For a 44% carbamide peroxide whitening gel, leave it on for 20 to 60 minutes per session. Because this is an extremely high concentration, it works quickly but poses a higher risk of severe tooth sensitivity and gum irritation.
Sensitivity: Temporary tooth sensitivity and gingival inflammation are very common with high-percentage peroxides. Consider using a desensitizing toothpaste before and after treatments
Teeth whitening is generally safe, but complications can occur. You should reach out to your local dental provider in the following scenarios:
